tree of love

I was asked to donate a piece of work for Project MinE, an Auction Gala for ALS.I decided to design and make a small sculpture specifically for the event: “The Tree of Love”

Ghandi said, "Where there is love there is life." This sculpture expresses the fact that love is essential to life: nothing lasting can be created without love, and nothing created without love can be lasting. The heart is traditionally the seat of love. The tree of pendant hearts is therefore the Tree of Love, which is the Tree of Life. It has twelve branches because Twelve is the number of what is completed, which forms a whole, a perfect and harmonious unit. In the ancient Oriental and Judaic civilizations, it corresponds to plenitude, completion and integrality. The seated figure holding a heart represents a gift of love which is the seed from which a Tree of Love and Life can grow. Each branch and each heart are a new gift of love and life.
